In Athens, popular practices book routine cleanings weeks ahead, so call early or ask to be put on a cancellation list; emergency and walk-in clinics are the exception. Across Georgia, a new-patient exam with X-rays and a cleaning typically runs from about $150 to $350 without insurance, and many offices publish new-patient specials on their websites. Check the listing for hours, whether the office takes your insurance or Medicaid, languages spoken, wheelchair access and parking, then confirm by phone: insurance networks and providers change more often than the listings do.

Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (706) 543-0026. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, athensperio.com.

Athens is in Georgia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Athens is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Georgia's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Guided Biofilm Therapy was used this time and it was phenomenal. It felt like a spa day for each individual tooth. It was a deeper clean yet it was very comfortable and very educational. Judith is a wonderful hygienist and I always feel like she does a great job. Today was a whole new experience because of the guided biofilm therapy. I highly recommend it!

I have been a customer of Athans Perio for a couple years and my experience with the staff is one of compassion, caring, and professionalism. My first time there and first time to a Periodontics Office. This place is Top notch in every aspect. I was nervous about going, but once I arrived I was greeted by a very friendly staff member. They called me in right away. The Office is huge and super inviting. Top technology is used and everyone makes you feel comfortable. Doctor Scott Lowry D.M.D is very professional, friendly and down to earth. He spent more than enough time letting me fill him in on my dental issue and made me feel at home. Besides being competent, he is very down to earth (something you rarely see anymore in the medical field). His assistant was super nice and she jotted down some notes about my dental history. She was incredibly friendly, professional and happy! I left there feeing at ease and confident that my dental issue will be monitored and fixed if needed in the future. I highly recommend anyone in the Athens or Oconnee, Ga area to see this office for any Perio or dental issues.

Dr. Loweryβs assistant, Summer, greeted me warmly and took me back to the exam room. She was professional in all she did setting me up for pictures and then asked me a few questions in a clear voice. Dr.Lowery came in and sat facing me and in a pleasant and positive demeanor asked questions about my general health and then more specifically about my issue. He took the time to explain what he thought was going on and how he would take care of me. He examined my mouth thoroughly as Summer took notes. I couldnβt have asked for more careful care than I received from both of them. He was concerned about one issue and took the time to contact my primary care doctor about it before he would schedule the procedure. While they are expensive and donβt take insurance up front, they will file with the insurance company for me. My thanks to the staff who were kind and welcoming.

I truly love my periodontist and hygienist: Dr. Pylant and Judith! Not only are they gifted professionals, they are also the kindest and most thoughtful people youβd ever want to have taking care of you! Itβs really not possible for me to adequately celebrate how fortunate I feel being a client at Athens Perio, but Iβll try! I canβt remember when I first became a patient there, but itβs been at least 25 years! Iβve left each visit feeling grateful and impressed with the whole team, but recently my level of gratitude has soared! For a year now, Iβve endured an unexpected health drama that has left me seriously immunocompromised. Itβs scary for me to be inside with others, and I have to be very careful not to injure myself and open my skin to potential bacteria involvement. I hadnβt been able to get my teeth cleaned during this year and they were not looking good. Judith just has the magic touch and the biggest heart and Dr. Pylant gently evaluated my teeth and gums and also took the time to check in with me regarding all Iβd been going through since we last saw each other. Everyone was prepared for my visit making sure I had enough space and wearing masks. When I left my appoi

Despite my dental ills, I was put at ease immediately by the doctor and the staff. Very professional and explained everything in terms that were simple to understand. Though I have a few serious dental problems, I am confident that the best results will happen when I have the procedure done. Very pleased!

Dr. pilot was very knowledgeable, helpful, and seemed truly concerned with the best outcome for my mother and her dental needs. He was truly generous with his time. And offered an alternative treatment that seems to fit the situation. We appreciate their kind consideration and Response to patients as individuals and not just as another set of teeth and gums

I had my first visit at Athens Perio yesterday, since my long time periodontist just retired. I was amazed at their level of customer service. Dr. Pylant put me right at ease. I feel completely confidant that I will receive the best treatment plan possible under his care. Obviously, I have some dental issues, and yet he did not make me feel bad about it. He focused on the positive instead of just the negative. Also, Dr. Lowry, introduced himself while I was there. He took time out of his busy schedule to welcome me as a new patient. I would recommend this practice to anyone needing periodontal care!!
